Families across the Clear Lake area can drop off nonperishable food at Clear Creek ISD campuses starting Monday, Oct. 26, as the district opens a two-week food drive benefiting area food banks.
The CCISD Cares food drive runs through Friday, Nov. 6. Collection bins will be available at CCISD campuses and support facilities districtwide from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays, according to KGTX 7 News. The district spans 100 square miles and 13 municipalities, including Webster, Seabrook, Nassau Bay and Clear Lake Shores.
The drive is open to district families, staff and the public.
Clear Creek ISD plans to deliver collected items to area food banks the week after the drive ends. CCISD Cares is a 501(c)(3) organization formed to assist district families with basic needs during times of crisis, according to the district's nonprofit network page.
Residents who want to help beyond canned goods have two other options through the same program. The School Lunch Fund accepts monetary donations to cover breakfast and lunch costs for students whose meal accounts lack sufficient funds. Separately, the Counselors' Corner program lets donors purchase nonperishable snacks from an Amazon wish list. Those snacks go to counselors' offices for students who need them.
A map showing all campus and facility drop-off locations is available on the CCISD website.
