Clear Brook enters its Oct. 23 matchup against Clear Springs still searching for its first District 18-6A win of the season.
The Wolverines fell to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in district play after a 50-34 loss to Clear Lake on Friday, Oct. 16. Clear Brook has lost 16 of its last 17 games dating to last season, according to MaxPreps. A victory over Clear Springs on Friday, Oct. 23, at Challenger Columbia Stadium in League City would snap that slide and give the Wolverines their first league win of 2026.
The opponent will arrive with momentum. Clear Springs rallied from a 13-3 halftime deficit to beat Clear Falls 17-13 on Oct. 16 at Challenger Columbia Stadium, as first reported by The Daily News. The Chargers scored 14 unanswered points in the third quarter. Quarterback Kaedyn Hutto threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Parker Tramposch, and running back Darrien Moore punched in a 1-yard go-ahead score with 18 seconds left in the period.
Clear Springs' defense then shut out Clear Falls in the second half, forcing a red-zone fumble and stopping two fourth-quarter drives on downs.
"The kids kept showing up, working hard, playing hard, and they've stayed the course," Clear Springs head coach Anthony Renfro told The Daily News.
The win moved Clear Springs to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in district. Clear Falls fell to the same marks. The Chargers had entered the game on a two-game losing skid before their bye week.

Deer Park and Dickinson lead the league at 4-0 in district play after Oct. 16 results. Barbers Hill sits at 3-1 after a 55-42 loss to Dickinson. Clear Springs and Clear Falls are tied at 2-2. Clear Lake moved to 1-3 with its win over Clear Brook, while Clear Creek and Clear Brook are both 0-4.
Four teams qualify for the playoffs. Clear Brook would need to win its remaining district games and get help to have any postseason path, starting with the 7 p.m. kickoff against Clear Springs on Oct. 23 at Challenger Columbia Stadium.
