Clear Lake's Falcons will try to hand Barbers Hill a second straight loss when the Eagles visit for a District 18-6A game at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22.

Barbers Hill (6-1, 3-1) arrives after its first defeat of the season. Dickinson beat the Eagles 55-35 on Friday, Oct. 16, in Mont Belvieu, piling up 584 yards of offense, the Galveston County Daily News reported. MaxPreps listed the final score as 55-42. Either way, Dickinson intercepted Barbers Hill quarterback Luke Babin twice in the third quarter and pulled away in the second half.

Babin, a senior Baylor commit, still put up 162 yards passing with two touchdowns and added 46 rushing yards and a score against Dickinson, according to MaxPreps. Through his first six games, the Houston Chronicle reported Babin had completed 70.2% of his passes for 1,159 yards and 17 touchdowns against one interception, despite averaging just 14 attempts per game. Barbers Hill's offense had been averaging 50.6 points and 464.5 yards per outing before Dickinson slowed the Eagles down, ranking third among Class 6A Houston-area teams in Region III, according to the Chronicle.

Before the season, Babin told ABC13 he values making teammates better. "I'd say honesty is the best quality because there's only so much a quarterback can do," he said in August.

Clear Lake (3-4, 1-3) enters on a high after beating Clear Brook 50-34 on Oct. 16, according to the Falcons' schedule on MaxPreps. The win snapped a three-game district losing streak that included losses to Dickinson (72-0), Deer Park (62-7) and Clear Falls (58-21).

The Falcons have scored 182 points and allowed 326 through seven games. Barbers Hill moved up to Class 6A this season after competing in 5A, joining the district that includes Dickinson, Deer Park and the Clear Creek ISD schools. A June preview in the Galveston County Daily News called the Eagles "an always solid program" and "a new wild card" in the district.

Dickinson's third-quarter interceptions by Darian Coleman and Avery Young showed that Barbers Hill's offense can be disrupted. The Gators turned a 28-21 halftime lead into a runaway, scoring twice off those turnovers.

Clear Lake closes the regular season with a home game against Clear Springs on Oct. 30 and a road trip to Clear Creek on Nov. 6.
