A free mobile app lets Harris County voters in Webster, Seabrook and Nassau Bay preview their sample ballot and find voting centers ahead of the Nov. 3 election.
The Harris County Clerk's Office launched Harris Votes, available in the Apple and Google app stores, as first reported by Community Impact. The app officially launches Thursday, Oct. 1, though it is already available to download.
The deadline to register to vote is Monday, Oct. 5.
"We want to remind you, because we do know there's a lot going on in the state of Texas, to check your voter registration, make sure that you have the information that you need, that you update it …" Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth said Sept. 28 while unveiling the county's "Plan. Check. Vote." billboard campaign, as reported by KPRC.
What the app does
Through Harris Votes, voters can view a personalized sample ballot, find voting centers, see election dates, receive reminders, check registration status and follow live election results. The same information is available at harrisvotes.com.
The sample-ballot feature matters here. Hudspeth said Sept. 28 that Harris County has one of the longest ballots in the nation, with 100-plus contests voters will need to work through. The app lets voters study candidates before they walk into a vote center.
Harris County has used a countywide vote-center model since 2019. Voters do not need to go to a specific precinct. They can cast a ballot at any vote center during early voting or on Election Day.
Registration backlog
The app launch comes as the county works through a separate voter registration backlog. As we reported Sept. 28, a Texas Department of Public Safety software issue prevented some applications from reaching the state. Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector and Voter Registrar Annette Ramirez said the county received about 108,000 records dating back to October 2025. After removing duplicates, more than 75,000 remained, with about 11,000 requiring manual review.
Ramirez said additional staff are working through the records and expects them reviewed before early voting begins Oct. 19, according to KHOU. Those backlog records do not need to be processed by the Oct. 5 registration deadline, the county said.
