Clear Lake Shores police recovered an estimated $300,000 in stolen boats, trailers and other property after a months-long investigation, KGTX 7 News reported.

Lucas Rodriguez, 20, of Sugar Land, was arrested the week of Sept. 17 and charged with theft of property valued at $150,000 or more but less than $300,000. Bond was set at $100,000.

The case started when a 2022 Cape Horn 31 Tournament boat was reported stolen from True North Marine in Galveston County. The Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force, a unit of the Galveston County Sheriff's Office, began assisting Clear Lake Shores police in July.

Investigators used surveillance footage and Flock license plate reader technology to identify a suspect vehicle and connect it to multiple alleged thefts, according to the task force's account reported by KGTX 7.

Detectives executed a search warrant on Monday, Aug. 24, and recovered two stolen boats, three stolen boat trailers and a stolen side-by-side vehicle. They also found license plates, GPS devices and boat titles that did not belong to the suspect.

The Nueces County Sheriff's Office and the Galveston County Fugitive Apprehension Division assisted with the arrest. The investigation remains active.
