Friendswood ISD families now have a single online resource covering supply lists, bus routes, enrollment deadlines and campus events ahead of the district's Aug. 18 first day of school.

The district published its 2026-27 Back-to-School Guide, compiling academic calendars, testing schedules, athletic information and transportation details into one document. The guide covers six campuses serving grades PK through 12.

Classes begin Tuesday, Aug. 18, six days after neighboring Clear Creek ISD opens its doors on Wednesday, Aug. 12, according to KGTX 7 News.

The district said the guide includes campus events, school supply lists, academic and testing calendars, athletic information, enrollment resources and transportation details, and encouraged families to review it before the first day and refer back during the opening weeks.

Key calendar dates

The district calendar lists these breaks and holidays for 2026-27:

  • Sept. 7 — Labor Day holiday
  • Oct. 15 — Parent conferences/PSAT/student holiday
  • Nov. 23-27 — Thanksgiving break
  • Dec. 21-Jan. 1 — Winter break
  • March 8-12 — Spring break
  • May 27, 2027 — Last day of school (early dismissal)

Two community events before classes start

Two community events are scheduled before classes start.

The 10th Annual Under the Oaks Community Pep Rally takes place Thursday, Aug. 13, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Friendswood Schools Museum, 208 W. Spreading Oaks Ave. The event features performances by the Friendswood High School Cheerleaders, Wranglerettes and Drumline, along with campus PTO booths, community partner booths and kettle corn.

Meet the Mustangs returns Saturday, Aug. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Henry Winston Stadium. The free event lets families meet student-athletes, collect autographs, browse local vendors and enter raffle basket drawings.

On the athletic front, the Lady Mustangs volleyball team enters the season as three-time defending District 20-5A champions, according to the Galveston County Daily News.

New Teacher Academy runs through Friday, Aug. 7, with staff preparation continuing until students arrive Aug. 18.
