Property owners in Webster, Seabrook, Nassau Bay and other Clear Lake-area communities inside Galveston County will see a slightly lower county tax rate on their next bills.

The Commissioners Court voted 5-0 on Monday, Sept. 14, to adopt a $0.32406 per $100 valuation tax rate and the fiscal year 2027 county budget. County Judge Mark Henry moved both items, with Commissioner Joe Giusti of Precinct 2 seconding.

The entire meeting at the Galveston County Courthouse lasted 15 minutes. A public hearing on the proposed budget opened at 9:40 a.m. and closed one minute later. No residents spoke.

All five court members were present: Henry, Commissioner Darrell A. Apffel of Precinct 1, Giusti, Commissioner Hank Dugie of Precinct 3 and Commissioner Robin Armstrong, M.D., of Precinct 4.

The total dollar amount of the adopted budget was not listed in the meeting minutes.

The court approved 56 consent items in a single 5-0 vote, with one exception.

County Judge Henry was authorized to sign a resolution awarding a FY2027 grant to Bay Area Meals on Wheels. The organization delivers meals Monday through Friday to homebound residents in zip codes across Harris and Galveston counties, including 77058, 77059, 77062 and 77586. The grant amount was not specified in the minutes.

The court also authorized an engineering agreement with Compass Environmental Solutions for drainage improvements on Ave B, Reppert Street and Miles Road. The specific locations of those projects were not identified in the minutes.

Separately, the court approved an interlocal agreement between Galveston County and the Galveston County Health District for shared services, as we reported Sept. 15. That item was pulled from the consent agenda for its own 5-0 vote.

FY2027 personnel salary adjustments were approved to take effect Sept. 24.

The adopted tax rate will appear on 2027 property tax bills for Galveston County homeowners.
