House of Pies is building out a restaurant at 160 West Bay Area Blvd. in Webster. The nearly 4,000-square-foot location would be the chain's first in the Clear Lake area.

House of Pies operates six other locations across the Houston area, in The Woodlands, Cypress, Katy, Upper Kirby, Westheimer and South Houston. None sit in the Clear Lake, Webster or Seabrook area.

The chain has been family-owned for more than 55 years, according to the company's website. The Khalaf family has run the Houston locations since the late 1980s. House of Pies has earned Houston Press awards for best dessert, best late-night restaurant and best breakfast, the company says.

The restaurants serve all-day breakfast, sandwiches, burgers, chicken-fried chicken, steak and spaghetti alongside more than 40 varieties of pies and cakes baked in-house daily.

The chain is perhaps best known for its Bayou Goo pie: sweet cream cheese, crushed pecans and a chocolate-vanilla custard topped with whipped cream, chocolate shavings and powdered sugar.

A filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows the restaurant tenant build-out carries a $350,000 estimated cost and a scheduled completion date of Oct. 19. The privately funded project was registered with the state on May 12, with construction listed as starting May 25. Community Impact first reported the new location on Sept. 14.

The TDLR filing describes the project as a 3,924-square-foot restaurant tenant build-out with a current status of "Review Complete." The tenant is listed as Chuck Ganim, and the property owner is LCSSC, a Houston-based entity. The relationship between those parties and House of Pies' corporate ownership is not detailed in the filing.

No official opening date has been announced.
