A Thai restaurant has opened in Friendswood, taking over a space previously home to a Tex-Mex spot.
Good Good Thai Kitchen opened Sept. 21 at 146 W. Parkwood Ave. in the Friendswood Crossing shopping center, Community Impact Newspaper reported, citing an employee. The restaurant occupies a 3,600-square-foot end-cap unit that formerly housed Habanero's Tex-Mex Kitchen, according to a NewQuest Properties press release from January.
It is the restaurant's second location in Greater Houston. Its sister concept, Pelican Grill, operates three sites in the region.
Friendswood Crossing is an 80,980-square-foot retail center at the intersection of FM 518 and FM 528, anchored by Gold's Gym. NewQuest's press release estimated nearly 50,000 vehicles pass the center daily. Lara Lee LaMendola, the NewQuest leasing representative for Friendswood Crossing, said in the press release that the Thai concept marked a shift for the unit. "That space historically has been leased to Tex-Mex operators," LaMendola said.
The January press release had projected an opening before summer. The restaurant opened in September instead, and no source has explained the delay.
Kimberly DeVos of Cypressbrook Management Co. represented Good Good Thai Kitchen in lease negotiations for the space.
The menu spans appetizers, salads, soups, fried rice, curries, noodle soups, stir-fried noodles and entrees. Options include pad thai, massaman curry, boat noodle soup and kao soi, along with desserts such as sweet sticky rice and roti. The drink list includes Thai beer, sake and wine. Most entrees cost $15, with specialty items ranging from $17 to $29, according to the restaurant's online ordering page.
