Seabrook kids can compete for gift cards up to $100 by reeling in the longest fish at the city's annual Kids' Fish tournament, a free catch-and-release event at Bayside Park on Main Street. Online registration opens Monday, Aug. 10.
The tournament is open to children in grades Pre-K through 5th, according to the city's event listing on Visit Seabrook. The city has not announced the exact 2026 event date, but registration closes at noon Friday, Sept. 11, and last year's tournament fell on Sept. 13, 2025. Families should check seabrooktx.gov/kidsfish for the confirmed date.
Prizes are awarded separately to boys and girls by fish length: first place earns a $100 gift card, second place $50 and third place $25. A separate $100 gift card goes to whoever lands the Most Unique Fish. Each child can win only one prize.
Adults may cast the line, but the child must reel in the catch. Only one pole per child is allowed. Bait is provided. Fish must be on the way to the measuring station in the middle of Main Street when the final horn blows to count.
Kids' Fish is a recurring city-sponsored event run by Seabrook's Public Affairs department. Promoting last year's edition on the city's official Facebook page in September 2025, the city called it the most popular event of the year. The 2025 tournament ran from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
In-person registration will also be available at the event for families who miss the online window. Parking is in the city lot behind Merlion Thai Restaurant; street parking is not available, and the kayak launch will be closed. No alcohol is permitted.
