Space Center Houston is bringing its Space News & Brews series on-site for the first time Saturday, Aug. 8, giving Clear Lake-area residents an afternoon of craft beer, space updates and face time with two scientists who work on the future of human spaceflight.

The event runs from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Special Events Building. Tickets are available at spacecenter.org and spots are limited.

What to expect

Attendees will hear a live Q&A with Dr. Tanya Rogers, a NASA director at Johnson Space Center, and Chris Matty, a space professional whose career spans human systems work at NASA and commercial spaceflight at Axiom Space. Rogers holds a doctorate in chemical and biomolecular engineering from Rice University and co-founded The People's CO2, a Houston startup developing carbon-capture technology.

Craft beer comes courtesy of Starbase Brewing, a Texas-based brewery and Space Center Houston sponsor. The lineup includes Go For Launch, a Mexican-style lager billed as the official beer of Space Center Houston. Starbase launched its MicroBrew-1 experiment aboard NASA's Crew-11 mission to the International Space Station in August 2025, fermenting beer in microgravity for the first time.

"MicroBrew-1 is a bold step toward understanding how to grow and process resources in space, starting with one of humanity's favorite beverages: beer," Starbase Brewing CEO Nate Argroves said when the experiment launched in August 2025.

Each ticket includes a drink, light bites, collectible presenter lithographs and an autograph-and-photo session with the speakers. Space Center Houston members get 50% off admission plus an exclusive limited-edition pint glass.

Ticket pricing is not listed on the event page; visit spacecenter.org for current rates.
