Clear Creek ISD's state accountability score climbed one point to 89 this year, with all seven district high schools earning A ratings from the Texas Education Agency, according to results the district announced Aug. 14. Superintendent Dr. Karen Engle highlighted the gains at the board's Monday, Aug. 24 meeting.

The one-point gain, from 88 to 89, keeps CCISD in the high-B range. Engle wants 90.

"Our goal this year is for a 90 or higher and we are certainly well within that reach," Engle said in the district's Aug. 14 announcement of the results.

Among the standouts: Clear View High School, the district's dropout prevention campus, scored a 96. Clear Lake High School earned a 95, Clear Springs High School a 96, and Clear Brook High School a 93. Clear Horizons Early College High School and P-TECH led all campuses with a 99. Clear Creek High School scored 91 and Clear Falls High School 93.

Of 44 CCISD schools rated, 17 earned an A, seven earned a C and the rest earned a B, according to Community Impact. The district enrolls 38,634 students, with nearly 36% considered economically disadvantaged and 18% in special education.

TEA ratings are based on three criteria: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps.

Twelve new principals step in

Engle also used the Aug. 24 meeting to formally welcome 12 principals stepping into new leadership roles for the 2026-27 school year. The group led the Pledge of Allegiance alongside the superintendent.

The new leaders at the high school level are Erin Schmidt at Clear Springs High School and Cory West at Clear Path High School, an alternative campus.

At the intermediate level, Vanessa Reyes takes over at Creekside Intermediate and Jeffery Prince at Westbrook Intermediate. Reyes was formally appointed at a June 8 board workshop, making her among the earliest of the cohort to be named.

The remaining eight new principals lead elementary campuses: Holly Troyer (Ferguson), Kimberly Fernandez (Ross), Betsy Horner (Bay), Kara Massey (Falcon Pass), Jenny Toups (Whitcomb), Chenier Bibb (Campbell), Erin Tite (McWhirter) and Pamela Baggett (North Pointe).

The board also unanimously approved an Agreement for the Purchase of Attendance Credit at the same meeting. Trustees also approved the district's $432 million budget at the same session.

The next CCISD board meeting is Monday, Sept. 28, when trustees will consider the 2026 tax rate for approval.
