Friendswood needed just 25 first-half snaps to bury Pasadena 55-13 on Thursday, Oct. 8, at Pasadena Veteran Memorial Stadium.

The win pushed the Mustangs to 7-0 overall and 5-0 in District 11-5A-I, as first reported by The Daily News. Senior quarterback Josh Brister carved up the Eagles' secondary, completing 7 of 11 passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns before halftime. He finished with 220 passing yards.

Two of those first-half scores went to A.J. Parker, who hauled in a 52-yard catch-and-run after juking two Pasadena defenders on his way to the end zone. The third went to Jackson Owens.

Owens was Friendswood's most versatile weapon, catching four passes for 83 yards and punching in an 11-yard rushing touchdown. Peyton Lowe added three catches for 65 yards, and Parker finished with two receptions for 66.

The Mustangs led 28-0 with 1:44 left in the first quarter. Veer Malhotra blocked a Pasadena punt deep in Eagle territory on the play before Brister hit Parker in the corner of the end zone for the fourth score. Dax Berry ran in two short touchdowns, Tripp Bateman added another on the ground, and Friendswood piled up 12 first downs in the first half alone.

By halftime, it was 48-6.

"I like that we played together, I like that we finished," head coach Jordan Johnson said. "We talked about playing 48 minutes. There were a couple of things we wanted to check off the list tonight, things that we've improved on over the shorter week of practice."

Friendswood ran only 15 plays from scrimmage in the second half. A 45-yard pass from Brister to Lowe set up the final touchdown, scored by Nolan Staats. Pasadena quarterback Shaun Aguirre controlled the clock in the second half, rushing for 187 yards and scoring on two short runs, but the Eagles fell to 2-4 overall and 2-2 in district.

The 7-0 start builds on a season that had already matched last year's six-win total through the first six games, according to the Houston Chronicle. Johnson, a 2009 Friendswood graduate in his fourth year as head coach, has the Mustangs averaging more than 55 points per game.

Friendswood hosts Katy Freeman at home on Friday, Oct. 16.
