A former teacher and soccer coach at The Galloway School in Friendswood was arrested Friday, Aug. 7, on a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a young child, and police say there may be more victims.
Lewis Stott, 32, of Seabrook was taken into custody at approximately 6:16 p.m. on a Harris County warrant, the Friendswood Police Department said. The charge, a first-degree felony under Texas law, alleges abuse of a child younger than 14 that occurred between 2020 and 2026.
During that period, Stott held multiple roles at The Galloway School, located at 3200 W. Bay Area Blvd.: physical education teacher, substitute teacher, second-grade teacher and soccer club coach.
Police have not said whether the alleged abuse occurred on school grounds or involved students.
School says Stott was separated in May
Chris Tritico, an attorney for The Galloway School, said in a statement Saturday, Aug. 8, that Stott was separated from the school in May. Tritico said the school has cooperated with the Harris County District Attorney's Office, the Friendswood Police Department, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and the Texas Education Agency in their respective investigations.
Police urge parents to come forward
Because of Stott's former role as an educator and his access to children, investigators believe additional victims may not yet have come forward, according to Click2Houston, citing the Friendswood Police Department.
Parents and guardians whose children may have had contact with Stott are urged to speak with them. Anyone whose child discloses information, or anyone with details that could assist the investigation, is asked to contact the Friendswood Police Department at 281-996-3300.
The investigation remains active. Police said they will not release additional information that could compromise the case or the privacy of potential victims.
Following his arrest, Stott was transported to Harris County Jail. FOX 26 Houston reported his bond was set at $100,000 citing court records, though an earlier report indicated he was initially held without bond. No next court date has been announced.
