Nassau Bay's annual Halloween in the Park returns to David Braun Park on Saturday, Oct. 17, with free games, costume contests and trunk-or-treating from 6 to 8 p.m.
The city's Special Events Committee is organizing the event, according to the city's event page. Activities include face painting, a balloon artist, a guessing game and live music from DJ Christy Alan. Alan, a singer and songwriter, has a personal tie to Nassau Bay. She was half of the music duo "1050 Major" with the city's own Sgt. Kalia Sullivan.
Costume contest categories cover individuals by age group, best group, best pet and best trunk.
Local businesses and individuals are invited to set up trunks and hand out candy. Businesses may advertise at their trunks, but no sales are allowed at the event, according to the committee's civic alert. Trunk-or-treat participants need to arrive by 5 p.m. to set up with a table or by backing into parking spaces in front of the pavilion. All trunks must be ready by 5:45 p.m.
Space is limited.
Businesses and individuals who want to participate should RSVP by emailing [email protected] or calling 832-655-8531.
Volunteers are also needed to help the event run smoothly. The committee noted that older children are welcome to help out alongside adult volunteers. Anyone interested can reach the committee at the same email or phone number.
David Braun Park is in Nassau Bay. The event is free and open to all ages.
The Special Events Committee's next planned event after Halloween in the Park is Holiday in the Park. A date for that event has not been announced.
