Saunawelt European SaunaHouse, a European-style sauna facility on Egret Bay Boulevard in Webster, will hold a ribbon cutting and open house on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce announced the event, which runs from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at 18313A Egret Bay Blvd. The chamber said the gathering will include networking with local professionals, light bites and mocktails.

Founder and owner Mandy Loeffler opened the sauna house after a series of delays to the original timeline. Community Impact reported in October 2025 that Loeffler was targeting an end-of-2025 opening, having previously announced a spring 2025 date.

The business describes itself as Houston's first public European sauna house, according to a June 2026 KPRC Houston Life segment. That segment was sponsored content. Saunawelt also claims to offer the first Aufguss ceremony in Texas, a guided ritual involving essential oils and steam led by a trained Saunameister.

The facility includes a Finnish sauna heated to 185–200 degrees, an Alpine herbal sauna, an aromatherapy steam room, a cool mist room, a cold-water bucket shower, two infrared loungers and indoor and outdoor relaxation areas, according to the business's FAQ page. The space overlooks a creek, and guests enter through an open-air atrium.

The business is co-ed, cashless and tech-free. Phones must be stored in lockers.

Drop-in sessions start at $35 for a 60-minute visit called "The Reset." A 90-minute session costs $50, and a two-hour session runs $65, according to the Saunawelt website. Multipasses range from $145 for three visits to $440 for 10. A monthly subscription at $199 covers unlimited weekday sessions and a 10% discount on food, drinks and retail.

The name is German for "World of Sauna," pronounced "SOW (as in cow)–nah–velt," the business says.

According to the KPRC segment, Loeffler's travels in xEurope shaped the concept. In many parts of Europe, sauna serves as a weekly ritual marking the shift from work to rest. She worked with Helsinki-based sauna consultant Terhen to adapt those traditions for the Houston market.

The facility is wheelchair accessible and purpose-built for guests with limited mobility. Private group bookings for parties of more than five are available through the business website.
