Seabrook police detectives helped build a child-exploitation case that led to the arrest of a man roughly 300 miles away, near Fort Worth, where a judge set his bond at $1 million.

Jerrod Roper, 43, of Parker County was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 23, on charges of Sexual Performance by a Child and Online Solicitation of a Minor, both second-degree felonies, as first reported by Mineral Wells Area News. 43rd District Court Judge Craig Towson set the combined bond at $1 million.

The case started in Seabrook. Detectives there were investigating online contact involving the same 15-year-old on Aug. 14 when they learned another individual who lived in Parker County may also have been involved, according to the Parker County Sheriff's Office.

Seabrook police shared reports and supporting evidence with Parker County investigators on Sept. 8. That evidence identified Roper as a person suspected of communicating with the juvenile through Discord, an internet-based messaging platform, Parker County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Sgt. Shane Cartwright told WBAP.

Investigators allege Roper sent sexually graphic messages to the juvenile and had previously received nude images of the 15-year-old. The Parker County Sheriff's Office said Roper told investigators after his arrest that he had communicated in a sexually explicit manner with a girl he believed was younger than 18.

Authorities obtained and executed both an arrest warrant for Roper and a search warrant for his east Parker County residence on Wednesday, Sept. 23. He was taken to the Parker County Jail without incident.

Investigators seized multiple electronic devices from the residence. Those devices are expected to undergo forensic examination as the investigation continues.

Parker County Sheriff Russ Authier said "individuals who target children will be held accountable," according to the sheriff's office statement on the arrest.

The Seabrook Police Department has not released a public statement on the case. No next court date has been announced.
