Families can camp overnight at Space Center Houston during Labor Day weekend, sleeping under a twice-flown SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.

The Family Overnight event runs Saturday, Sept. 5, into Sunday, Sept. 6. Tickets cost $79.95 per child and $69.95 per adult, according to Space Center Houston's overnight experiences page. Registration is required.

All guests must be at least five years old. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or chaperone.

The overnight package includes dinner and breakfast, three hours of STEM challenges built around current NASA technology, a tram tour of NASA Johnson Space Center and a general admission ticket. Activities include building rockets, operating robotic rovers and exploring the Starship Gallery, which houses flown spacecraft and astronaut training models.

Indoor sleeping spots are available. But the draw is outside.

Guests can pitch a tent under the Falcon 9 or under the historic shuttle carrier aircraft NASA 905 in Independence Plaza. Space Center Houston says it is the only place in the world where guests can sleep under a Falcon 9 rocket.

Space Center Houston, the official visitor center of Johnson Space Center, sits at 1601 E NASA Parkway, just across the road from Nassau Bay and Webster. The center is a gateway to the nation's human spaceflight hub, which employs more than 12,000 people.

Members at dual-level and above receive a 10% discount on overnight experiences.
