Friendswood families can climb aboard fire trucks, watch vehicle extrication demos and meet local first responders at the Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department's open house on Sunday, Oct. 4, at Centennial Park.
The department said on its official Instagram account that the event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to everyone. Activities include fire truck rides, an interactive kids' obstacle course and photo opportunities with ladder trucks, rescue boats, ambulances and a medical helicopter. Food trucks will also be on site.
The open house gives residents a hands-on look at the equipment and personnel who respond to emergencies across the city.
Classic Car and Bike Show also on the calendar
The Friendswood Chamber of Commerce is organizing the 21st Annual Classic Car and Bike Show, expected in early October. The Chamber's Instagram post from March 11 referenced Stevenson Park as the location, while a Facebook event listing gives the address as 1100 S. Friendswood Drive. The exact date had not been confirmed as of Sept. 5.
The show will feature vintage cars and bikes, local vendors, food and trophy awards for car entries, according to a Community Impact roundup of area events. The Chamber's March post invited car owners to reach out about entering their vehicles.
