Parkwood American Grille in Friendswood landed among the highest restaurant inspection scores in Galveston County for August 2026.

The restaurant at 2131 W. Parkwood Ave. appeared on the county's "kudos" list in an inspection report covered by KGTX 7 News on Friday, Sept. 4. The Galveston County Health District uses a demerit scoring system in which a zero means inspectors found no violations. Lower scores indicate stronger compliance with food-safety regulations, according to the health district's website.

The KGTX 7 report did not list a specific numerical score for Parkwood. It named the Friendswood restaurant among four county establishments that received "some of the highest inspection scores" during August inspections.

Parkwood American Grille opened in August 2026 and serves modern American cuisine. Restaurateur Raz Halili and chef Joe Cervantez, the team behind Pier 6 Seafood & Oyster House in San Leon, launched the Friendswood location, according to the Houston Business Journal.

CultureMap Houston described the pair as a James Beard-nominated duo. The dinner menu features oysters, steaks, a burger, lamb sausage rigatoni and roasted half chicken, according to the Houston Chronicle.

It opens at 5 p.m. daily.

The broader August inspection report also flagged four establishments elsewhere in the county for food-safety violations. One Texas City buffet was closed after inspectors documented a pest infestation, mold inside ice machines and employees not washing hands between tasks. Three other restaurants in Texas City, Hitchcock and Santa Fe received citations for issues including improperly stored raw chicken, expired food and missing sanitizer.

Inspection reports document conditions observed at the time of the visit and may not reflect current conditions, the health district noted. Residents can look up individual scores on the Galveston County Health District's website.
