A Seabrook nonprofit that takes military veterans and active-duty service members on land-based shark fishing trips has joined the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber announced Sunday, Sept. 6, on X that All American LBSF is its newest member. The organization, whose full name is All American Land Based Shark Fishing, uses what it calls adventure therapy to support veterans dealing with stress, anxiety, depression and the lasting effects of trauma.
The group uses the tagline Healing through reeling to describe its approach.
All American LBSF is the first veteran-focused nonprofit to join the chamber in its recent wave of new members, which has included Think Energy, Little Woodrow's Webster and West Coast Sourdough Deli in Webster.
According to the organization's mission statement on the Zeffy fundraising platform, All American LBSF aims to unite active-duty military members and veterans by building bonds of shared service while promoting mental health, healing and personal resilience through land-based shark fishing. The organization says its work extends beyond the fishing trips themselves, building a lasting support network that encourages open conversations about mental health and strengthens relationships among veterans and active military members.
The nonprofit's Facebook page, listed under Seabrook, had 933 likes as of Monday, Sept. 7. Its website describes the group as empowering veteran communities through surf fishing, connection and resources. Both terms appear in the organization's materials; land-based shark fishing refers to the specific activity, while surf fishing is used more broadly.
Merchandise sales through the group's online shop help fund fishing trips and build the peer network that participants can turn to between outings, according to the Zeffy listing.
