Bay Area Service Teens, the all-teen auxiliary of Bay Area Service League in Webster, celebrated 30 years of volunteer work on Aug. 18.

Founded in 1996, the group has grown to 137 high school members who run seven philanthropic programs across the Clear Lake area. They assemble food packs for students, deliver birthday party kits to at-risk children, make fleece blankets for kids in domestic abuse shelters and create cards for seniors in memory care.

The scale is substantial. Bay Area Service League reported in a June 19, 2025, Instagram post that during the 2024–2025 program year, the teens assembled 9,720 microwaveable meals through their Snack Attack Packs initiative, provided 280 birthday party kits, delivered 350 pet adoption kits and logged 4,468 volunteer hours.

Snack Attack Packs, the largest piece of the group's Basic Kneads food program, sends packages containing a microwaveable meal, a snack and a drink to students in Deer Park ISD, La Porte ISD and Texas City ISD during the school year. The 2026–2027 season launched Aug. 9, with volunteers assembling 1,050 packages each month from August through May.

The remaining six programs cover birthdays, animals, shelters, seniors and school readiness. Birthday in a Box delivers party kits to students at League City and McWhirter Elementary Schools in Clear Creek ISD and K.E. Little and San Leon Elementary Schools in Dickinson ISD. Cause for Paws assembles adoption kits for League City Animal Care and Bay Area Pet Adoptions/SPCA. Crafted with Care and Project Snuggle provide mementos and fleece blankets to children at Bay Area Turning Point and The Bridge Over Troubled Waters shelters. Notes for Folks sends handmade cards to seniors in the memory care unit at Discovery Village Clear Lake. Ready for School Support rounds out the seven-program lineup.

Lisa Holbrook, writing on the Bay Area Service League website on Sept. 5, noted that teens have staffed the organization's Resale Shop at 100 East NASA Parkway, Suite 80, in Webster on weekends and during summers since 2006.

Over three decades, Bay Area Service Teens has also raised funds through car washes, loyalty card sales, fun runs and a Pictures with Santa event. Donors including 100 Women Who Care and the Mary Jane Carvel Foundation have supported the group's animal-welfare programs.
